It’s no surprise that non-genetically Engineered (non-GE) / non-genetically Modified Organism (non-GMO) labeling of food and beverage products is increasing due to consumer demand combined with pressure attributed to Vermont labeling legislation. In response, major food companies have been launching new non-GMO products to increase their appeal to consumers who are seeking more non-GMO options.
According to Innova Insights, product launches with non-GMO claims increased from 1% of all launches in 2010 to 15% in 2015. Although these new non-GMO product launches can be found across a wide range of food categories, nearly half of those new products were found in these four categories: Snacks, Cereals, Soft Drinks and Bakery.
To meet this growing consumer demand for non-GMO products, Tate & Lyle has developed a broad portfolio of distinctive high-quality solutions that are non-GMO in popular categories such as Fibers, Sweeteners, Salt, and Proteins. In addition, over the coming months, they are also increasing their regional capabilities to meet these mounting needs.
