DuPont is pleased to see more progress toward a national standard on GM Labeling to ensure accurate information is shared with consumers as they make food decisions for themselves and their families. As a leader in the soy protein category, DuPont provides a “choice” when purchasing soy protein made with either conventional or non-GM soybeans through the implementation of its industry-leading Identity Preservation Program.
DuPont Nutrition & Health developed this program several years ago in response to consumer demand for non-GM foods, which first surfaced in the mid 1990’s. Today, it remains the most comprehensive program of its type in the soy industry, and has become an industry-leading standard which other companies and commodities have adapted to ensure the integrity of their GM supply. These efforts have allowed DuPont to successfully deliver products that meet industry IP, Non-GM standards.
Developed for customers requiring soy protein made with identity-preserved, non-genetically modified (IP, non-GM) soybeans, this proprietary, comprehensive process ensures the integrity of their SUPRO® Soy Proteins that carry the IP, Non-GM classification.
This proprietary process starts with the qualification of the farmer, and carries through several sequenced stages including independently audited soybean storage, specialized crushers that produce a “white flake” raw material that’s delivered by dedicated transportation and receipt to their facilities. Each stage is frequently tested to assure the integrity of the supply chain and minimize contamination so the delivered end products meet government and regulatory standards required of IP, no-GM ingredients.
