A new 18 hole mini-golf course recently opened in Butler County, Ohio. But this is no ordinary course!
It is part of the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields Complex, a comprehensive sports complex designed for unrestricted baseball play for children and adults with disabilities.
The Mission of the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields is to provide a unique, fun and safe sports experience for our special needs players and their families. The facility was envisioned by the late Reds pitcher and broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. Sadly, Joe passed before the complex was built. His family carried forward his dream and built the complex in his name, opening July 2012.
On October 5, the newest addition to the complex was dedicated: ‘The Skidmore Sales Mini-Golf Club.’ More than 30 families played on the course following the dedication. According to Kim Nuxhall, Joe Nuxhall’s son, “The course is a fully-accessible course that gives kids with special needs, especially those in wheel chairs, the opportunity to play.”
Doug Skidmore, CEO commented, “Skidmore Sales is always looking for ways to give back to our community. Becoming a naming sponsor was a great fit for our organization; part of our core values is helping others. While October 5, was a memorable day for Skidmore team, it is our hope that each visit will provide great memories for those visiting the Skidmore Sales 18 hole Mini-Golf Course at Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields complex.”
The course will at first be exclusively for children and adults with disabilities but will likely be opened to the public next year.
